Officials apprehend miscreants involved in liquor, sand smuggling in southern India
Several raids were carried out by the Special Enforcement Bureau (SEB), together with district police and Excise officials in southern India's Andhra Pradesh on May 25. The incident took place in Kurnool District.
A video features the officials confiscating several cases of liquor from a lorry in broad daylight. They apprehend the smugglers and assemble all the items on the ground for public view. Meanwhile, they recover more illicit alcohol from another truck and seize them.
Under the supervision of SEB Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Gautami Sally of Indian Police Service (IPS), under the direction of District Superintendent of Police (DSP), Dr. Fakkirappa Kaginelli of IPS, raids on illegal sand and liquor smuggling were being conducted in the district in coordination with the SEB team, cops, and excise officers.
Around 23 cases were registered against illicit liquor smuggling, and 31 goons were arrested regarding this matter. Moreover, the officials seized at least eight vehicles and 235 liters of alcohol. Meanwhile, they destroyed 4,600 liters of fermented or rooted jaggery and confiscated 1,322 bottles (269.64 liters) of liquor of various brands.
Moreover, one case of sand smuggling surfaced in which the team of authorities arrested a smuggler, seized one vehicle from his possession, and retrieved 4.5 tonnes of sand. The DSP has appealed to the locals to contact them on their specified number (7993822444) to send information about such occurrences. Furthermore, the details of all the data would be kept confidential.
