Stunning blue bioluminescence at a 'blue flag' beach in Kent, UK

Buy video

Stunningly rare blue bioluminescence captured at Sheerness beach in Kent, UK in this footage of stills & videos from June 2014.

The magical effect gives a whole new meaning to Sheerness being known as a Blue Flag beach.

As the waves break along the shoreline they light up a vivid electrical blue colour.

The blue light or glow is created by marine plankton, which activates a blue glow when it senses movement in the water.

The amazing spectacle usually occurs during some summers, when the temperature & conditions are just right.
