A man died after driving a car that was carrying firecrackers that exploded in Malaysia.

The incident was recorded by CCTV cameras around a mosque showing the powerful blast in Kota Bharu, Bharu on May 21. Glasses on the structure’s windows were shattered from the shock wave.

The driver identified Wan Hassan Wan Ali, 48, did not survive after having been thrown about 20 meters from the vehicle while

State police chief Datuk Shafien Mamat said four others were seriously injured and are now being treated at the Raja Perempuan Zainab II Hospital.

He said: ‘Preliminary investigation found that a Proton Saga car carrying a large number of firecrackers had exploded. It caused several cars around it to catch fire.

‘We will still need to undergo further investigations on the incident.’
