An Indian Home Guard personnel, identified as Syed Babu Sheikh, saved the life of a child who fell on the platform from a moving train in western India's Maharashtra on May 24. The incident took place in Mira Road railway station in Thane district.

CCTV footage features a train reaching the station at midnight. Within moments, a kid attempting to deboard the moving locomotive loses balance and falls onto the platform. Upon noticing this, the vigilant cop descends the train and pulls the child to safety while the others gather to check on them.

The Bandra Government Railway Police (GRP) Senior Inspector, V Chougule, deployed several Home Guard personnel in the women coaches of the train to ensure their safety. Following this, Syed Babu Sheikh was stationed in a local train that left from Virar on May 23 with a woman and her five kids on board.

However, when they reached Mira Road by midnight, a boy hopped from the moving train and fell on the platform. Syed quickly grabbed the child before he could slip into the gap between the locomotive and the platform. The alert official was lauded for his efforts and further received a reward of Rs. 1,000 (USD 13.74) from GRP Commissioner Kaiser Khalid.
