Hundreds of homes flattened after volcanic eruption in Democratic Republic of Congo
Devastating scenes show the aftermath of the eruption of Mount Nyiragongo in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). More than 500 houses were flattened displacing hundreds of families after a flow of lava from the erupting volcano carved a path of destruction through the northern district of Goma in the eastern Democratic Republic of Congo. Video footage filmed on May 24 shows houses in the Buhene district north of Goma reduced to ash and rubble.
