A traffic policeman was almost run over by a speeding car on Sunday (May 30) at a roadblock in central India.

CCTV footage shows the officer manning the COVID-19 inspection point in Madhya Pradesh when the driver of a black car ignored the stop signs and drove straight at him.

The officer, named as Prabhat Tiwari, was knocked to the ground but avoided injury.

Officers chased after the vehicle but they managed to get away.

A traffic cop nearly got run over by a car approaching the wrong side of the road in central India's Madhya Pradesh on May 30. The incident took place at the VIP road in Bhopal.

CCTV footage features the cops conducting a regular inspection in the area during the lockdown. Following this, a traffic cop waves his hand to slow down a car appearing from the wrong side of the road. However, the driver does not stop despite the officer's desperate signals and hits him at the three-way intersection. The car drifts on the road after the accident but manages to flee. After a few moments, the traffic officer halts a jeep and mounts it to follow the accused traveling in the car while another policeman on a bike accompanies them.

A traffic police officer, identified as Prabhat Tiwari, narrowly escaped being run over by a speeding black car after he got hit by it. The incident took place at the Retghat three-way intersection after the cop spotted a car coming from the wrong direction. He attempted to stop them but the driver accelerated and absconded after hitting the officer. The officer sustained severe injuries in his leg but still got up to track the goons.

Following this, Prabhat asked a passing jeep to help him chase the miscreants and departed from the region, together with others, but they succeeded in escaping. Moreover, the Inspector of Police, DP Singh, disclosed that the incident transpired around 6 am. A First Information Report (FIR) has been lodged at the Talaiya Police Station and a search for the car and its driver is underway.
