A bizarre video has emerged from China of a man being freed from a toilet by firefighters.

He managed to get his right arm stuck in the piping after trying to retrieve a dropped set of keys.

In the footage, filmed during the rescue in Zhejiang Province late last year, fire crews can be seen using a special hammer to break up the toilet. They had tried and failed to lubricate his arm using handwash beforehand.

According to local reports the man - in his fifties - had been trying to free himself for more than four hours before colleagues called the emergency services. He was freed without serious injury.
