75Thousand acres of land is being cultivated depending on the water that is being released from the Papanasam dam. Farmers of that area gave petition to the government to open the dam for irrigation. On hearing the pleas of the farmers government of Tamilnadu agreed to open the dam.
Torrential rains also lashed the water catchment areas of the dam and hence the dam has almost the full of it capacity. Once the gates of the dam was opened water gushes out of the gates with a full force.
It was like a glorious water fall.
