This elephant escaped the sun's heat by taking a long, cooling shower in southern India.

Filmed in Mayiladuthurai, Tamil Nadu, the elephant is seen covering itself in mud to protect its skin from the sun.

Further clips show the animal relaxing in a large shower. A supervisor instructs the elephant to exit but the animal refuses and continues to enjoy the cool water.

Abayambal is the female elephant that belongs to Maayuranathar temple of Mayiladuthurai District of Tamilnadu.

As mercury level hits high this elephant want to protect itself from the sun s rays. Hence it first tries to cover its body through mud. Then it goes to a shower. It feels very relaxed and it refuses to come out from the shower. Then the mahout calls again and it refuses to come again. Then he pours some more water from the hose pipe. Then the elephant gets relaxed and agrees to come out of the shower
