Customer Shot Attempting to Foil Armed Robbery at O'Reilly Auto Part Store

At 10:00 pm, Hemet Fire responded to reports of a gunshot victim following an armed robbery at an auto parts store in the 800 block of W Florida Ave in Hemet, CA. Arriving crews located a male victim who was shot twice. The victim was transported to a local trauma center with a gunshot wound to the shoulder and another gunshot wound in an unknown location. The suspects, two black male adults were seen running southbound through the parking lot area. Officers initiated an aggressive search for the two suspects, during which, a PD unit was struck by a motorist at the intersection of Palm Ave and Florida Ave near the auto parts store. No injuries were reported in the crash. The suspects are still outstanding at this time. It's unknown if the suspects made it out with any merchandise or cash and if so in what quantities. The wife of the victim who was shot explained that while in the store, the husband attempted to grab the gun from a suspect. He was pushed to the floor and shot twice, then the two fled the scene.
