On this year 2021 Tiananmen anniversary, the annual vigil was banned due to the COVID19 pandemic.

However, students from Hong Kong University still found a way to pay their respect to those who lost their lives during the massacre. A video posted on social media shows that students were cleaning the Pillar Of Shame sculpture.
