Inflatable dinghies are being used by migrants to cross the Channel from France.

Nearly 600 migrants have attempted to cross it in the past 72 hours.

The footage was filmed on May 12.

The migrants are leaving the coast of France between Calais and Dunkirk and using inflatable dinghies to get into British coastal waters. Once their boat is in British waters the Border Force are legally obliged to help any vessel stranded at sea and so the migrants are brought to shore. Once the migrants reach the port of Dover they are processed and sent onwards to emergency accommodation from where they can being their asylum application process.
