'Rescue Agent Heartbroken After Seeing Poisoned Pigeon Suffering'
'Bird pesticide Avitrol has been killing pigeons left and right and this clip shows a bird suffering due to it.
In this tragic video, Justin Hill rants about people responsible for hurting the birds.
He said: "I was giving breakfast to the rescues when I heard flapping while out front, but then noticed it was from the pigeon."
He continued: "When it became clear it was not hurt but poisoned, I had to do the most contradictory 'help' there is. It sucks, but if you don't release them from the suffering, you're not doing your job of protecting them. It's hard to come to terms with."
He added: "I'm 'happy' I was able to save it the worst of the poison's effects and let it just go to sleep comfortably, but my heart wrenches for the countless other birds afflicted by this bait that didn't have the fortune of landing in front of a rehab/rescue agent."
"It's heartbreaking, honestly. Here I am tearing myself apart physically and mentally to save animals, while others are being paid to put them through agonizing slow deaths. I'm just one nerd against an endless sea of cruelty perpetrated by my very own species... It's an unwinnable fight."
Justin concluded by saying: "But I'll keep swinging. I have to... It's why I'm here. They deserve our appreciation, our compassion."
