Dramatic CCTV footage has emerged from China of a man robbing a jewellery store for a gold ring - in order to apologise to his wife after a row.

In the video, captured on the security cameras of the store in Yunnan Province last month, the masked man can be seen breaking into the shop and threatening the shop assistants with a nailgun. He then grabs a bag and flees.

According to local reports a 24-year-old suspect was arrested twenty days later and is currently being held pending further charges.

Police say he admitted to stealing a gold ring, reportedly claiming it was to say sorry to his wife who he'd argued with two days before.
