Drones are being used for sanitizing remote areas in eastern India's Jharkhand to tackle Covid-19 from the roots on June 8. The incident took place in the Bharat Coking Coal Limited (BCCL) quarters, located in Dhanbad.

Visuals feature the officials pouring a bucket full of sanitizer into the drone machine. Following this, a person switches it on, and the propellers begin functioning. Within moments, the drone soars towards the sky while spraying sanitizer on its surroundings. Once in the air, two officials operate the sanitization device via remote control and disinfect remote areas, which are otherwise hard to reach manually.

The drones manufactured by Garuda Aerospace Ltd have a capacity of 10 liters and a range of 1 km (0.6 miles). The drones minimize human interactions and prevent viral transmission. Other than that, the device is best suited to reach remote areas more easily and quickly than standard modes of transportation.

The sanitization drones disinfected large open areas which would otherwise remain unattended. Moreover, the devices were used as the need of the hour. They provided efficient sanitization in less time and also avoided physical engagement.
