A taxi cab was stuck in knee-deep flood during a heavy rain fall in the Philippines.

The white sedan slowly waded through the water until it had an engine failure and stopped in the middle of a road in Quezon City, on June 8.

Onlooker Carlo Manuel said they were waiting for the rain to stop when the incident happened in front of a church.

He said: ‘There was too much water. The roads were flooded after only a few hours of raining. It was too much hassle to travel home with flood and Covid-19.’

A low-pressure area (LPA) of weather was spotted on the northern part of Luzon island. It continues to intensify the southwest monsoon bringing rain to various parts of the country including Metro Manila.

The Philippines and other countries in Southeast Asia such as Malaysia, Indonesia and Thailad are at the start of their tropical monsoon rainy season, which lasts until October.

The rain can cause treacherous conditions on the roads. Soaring temperatures reaching 35 degrees Celsius are often followed by powerful tropical storms with thunder, lightning, rain and flash floods.
