The Berlin-based on-demand grocery delivery service Gorillas has been rocked by strikes and staff protests in recent days due to what workers say was an unfair dismissal of a staff member.

For the second day in a row, members of staff on Thursday (June 10) blocked the entrance to the Prenzlauer Allee warehouse and refused to deliver groceries until the staff member's reinstatement.

The delivery startup has been operating in the city since May and is offering thousands of products. On its website the company says it prides itself on having "groceries delivered in 10 minutes."

According to a recent report in the Sunday Times, the unicorn company is raising close to $1 billion to fuel international expansion. It currently operates in in the UK, France and the Netherlands in addition to Germany.

According to Sifted.eu, which covers European tech startups, the company was Europe's fastest to unicorn status (a valuation over $1 billion).
