Paris police break up huge Project X party at Invalides on Saturday night
For the second consecutive night, young revellers gathered on the Esplanade des Invalides in central Paris despite a ban on large gatherings due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Video filmed at around 11pm on Saturday night shows chaotic scenes as scores of police vehicles with flashing lights attend the scene, young people flee while screaming and trash cans are set on fire. Tear gas is deployed by police as some youths are shown throwing projectiles at police, believed to be cans and bottles according to Newsflare's filmer.
On Friday night, police also used tear gas to disperse hundreds of people.
On both nights, partygoers had been responding to call put out on social media to hold an impromptu Project X party, named after the US movie in which teenagers throw a party.
