Amid the coronavirus outbreak in the country, the illegal liquor business has been booming in southern India's Andhra Pradesh on June 13. The incident took place in Rasanapalle village in the Gudipala zone of Chittoor district.

Visuals feature alcohol being prepared amid the bushes in broad daylight. After a few moments, officials discover the barrels full of illicit liquor and destroy the containers with sticks while liquid keeps gurgling out of it and flows through the waterbody nearby. In the meantime, the others recover more illicit materials from the village area.

A cordon and search operation was carried out by a team of 50 police personnel, in which they sealed off the village area and thoroughly searched every house with the cooperation of the villagers themselves. During the extensive search, several illicit materials used in manufacturing liquor, along with 210 liters of sap, were seized while 6000 lbs of sap were destroyed during the operation. Moreover, two cases were registered against 26 people in the village for conducting the heinous crime.

These cordon and search operations are often conducted by the police officers to prevent crime as people are getting involved in plantation production and smuggling business for their livelihood. In one month, 96 people got arrested, 47 cases were registered, seven vehicles were seized, along with 632 liters of alcohol, while the rest were destroyed after such liquor units were busted. Moreover, officials have generated a helpline number to report such matters at the police station while the details of the informant would be kept confidential.

Chittoor district Superintendent of Police (SP) Mr. S. Senthil Kumar of Indian Police Service (IPS), under the supervision of Chittoor Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Mr. N. Sudhakar Reddy, Special Party Reserve Inspector Mr. Veeresh, Gudipala Sub-Inspector (SI) Mr. B. Prasad, Special Task Force (STF), and Special Enforcement Bureau (SEB) team handled the search operation.
