Militant left-wing group gets in violent clashes with Berlin police with 60 officers injured

Major clashes broke out at the militant left-wing Rigaer Strasse squat in Berlin's Friedrichshain area on June 16 in the afternoon.

According to Newsflare's filmer, police attempted to set up a security zone to help facilitate a fire inspection on the German capital's Rigaer Strasse 94 squat that was due to take place tomorrow however residents had erected burning barricades and threw rocks as police moved in.

Street fighting continued for over an hour but tensions died down as police brought forward a water cannon and an APC to help clear barricades.

Later, special police units could be seen taking up positions on the rooftop of the squat.

The city expects to face more violence tomorrow as the inspection has not been canceled.

Up to 60 officers were hurt during todays trouble, reports indicate.
