Italy's Mount Etna erupted again overnight, spewing giant lava fountains high into the air from its southeast crater.

Footage filmed in the early hours of Friday (June 18) shows fiery lava fountains and lava flows from Europe's largest active volcano lighting up the night sky, even waking up locals with its loud roars, according to Newsflare's filmer. Wind also scattered nearby areas with ash.

Etna has erupted nearly 40 times already this year.

A new eruption on the Etna Volcano lights up the night with its fiery fountains which reached a height of about 500 meters from the rim of the crater and its lava flows, waking up people with its loud roars, and covering the areas reached by the wind with ashes. It had not happened for about twenty years that the Etna volcano made the large number of eruptions that reached in 2021, is approaching 40 and we are still in June, Catania, june 18, 2021.
