A hapless puppy was rescued after getting trapped inside a reclining sofa in the Philippines.

The cute pup was discovered after he barked from inside the furniture in Davao City.

Pet owner Jefferson Dela Torre and his wife reversed the sofa and began searching for their three-week-old dog named Buddy underneath.

He said: ‘I was preparing Buddy’s meal when he disappeared. My wife was worried and we searched for him for almost two hours but without success.

‘We heard him bark from under the sofa and found he was inside. I don’t know how he was able to be trapped there. Such a naughty boy.’

The couple ripped some of the foam out of the sofa until the hole was big enough. They eventually took Buddy out after almost half an hour.
