Rapid floodwater swept through the streets of Yalta, Crimea, on June 19.

The man in the video can be heard joking: "We don’t even have warm pants, nothing! What can we do now? Just swim in a mountain river!"

"Wherever I have not been! I have been to Bali and many other countries. There is sun, there is snow. A lot happened there but natural disasters have never been! How so? We arrived, we didn’t look at the weather. We don’t even have warm pants, nothing! What can we do now? Just swim in a mountain river!"

The flood in Yalta became the strongest in the last century. The last time the city was flooded so strongly was in 1922, when more than 190 millimeters of precipitation fell. On June 18, 2021, more than 135 millimeters of precipitation fell per day (with a monthly rate of 42 millimeters). Local residents took sturgeons out of the water, right between sunken cars, and crocodiles swam in flooded buildings.
