"My house is burning": Smartphone captures burning house as man attempts to escape

Dramatic footage has emerged from Canada, purportedly captured from inside a house fire.

The video, captured by homeowner Alex Thompson in western Canada earlier this month, appears to show flames engulfing his property.

Writing about the video, Thompson claims:

“This was shot at a cottage of mine in western Canada. From what investigations have concluded, it was caused by a poorly stored propane tank. Winter is coming to an end over here so readying up the grill is an annual tradition of sorts. I must of cut corners this time. I started shooting as a farewell message (the video I uploaded was only a portion of the entire video), I was planning on throwing my phone out the window in hopes of someone retrieving it and finding my goodbyes and confessions after taking the passcode off.

I called the emergency line afterwards, though I had little hope of anyone getting to me in time (this is cottage country). Before rescue arrived, I remembered I have a ladder stored in the attic. The entry to the attic is in my room closet. I went up, got the ladder and had a relatively safe climb down. Crews arrived, put out the fire. I was treated for mild smoke inhalation. I have no idea how long everything took or how long I was in there. But I am safe and pretty well now.”
