Much-needed Rain Returns to Drought-Stricken Utah

Buy video

Much-needed rain fell Thursday in drought stricken South Utah. The region has been parched for so long that popular boat ramps have been forced to close along Lake Powell because the water is too low. In this video, the lake is viewed from Hite Lookout along route 95. Normally the wide lake bed would be filled with pristine blue waters. Meteorologists are uncertain if this week’s rains are a signal that the normal wet monsoon season has returned. They’re also concerned that lightning from the storms may spark wildfires.
