The South African Communist Party (SACP) protested outside the Western Cape provincial offices of the South African police service. They are protesting against corruption within police ranks and calling for the reinstatement of Major-General Jeremy Vearey.

Vearey was dismissed after a controversial social media post calling out corruption within police ranks. The disciplinary committee ruled that Vearey had brought the police service into disrepute.

Benson Ngquentso, the Western Cape provincial secretary of the SACP, said they wanted Vearey reinstated and accused police of being involved in extortion rackets across Cape Town.
