A mysterious gooey sea creature washed up on a beach in southern Thailand.

The dark pink slime resembling a sci-fi movie creature was seen sticking on a rock at a muddy beach in Krabi province during low tide earlier this month on June 20.

It appeared to have hundreds of dark tentacles while the rest of its pink body was slimy and would slightly move when touched.

Beachgoer Moo Pik saw the strange creature and was curious about what it was so he used a stick to poke on its body.

He said: ‘I thought it was just a piece of plastic trash on the beach. I was about to pick it up when I realised it was a sea animal but I’m not sure which kind.

‘I used a stick because I was curious if it was still alive and I didn’t want to touch it with my hands. It might be poisonous. I was surprised when it moved.’

The marine creature is believed to be a magnificent sea anemone which are commonly found in tropical and subtropical waters of the Indo-Pacific area.

As anemones live on the seabed, the creature might have been washed onto the surface by strong currents during low tide.
