LGV low bridge strike forces road closure and trains to stop running in Nottinghamshire
A road was blocked and trains were stoped this afternoon after a LGV struck a low railway bridge in Nottinghamshire.
Nottinghamshire fire and rescue attended the incident on Stapleford Lane just after 2pm and reported that the driver was unhurt. Trains were stopped for precaution until an inspection was carried out by Network rail and was reopened once an inspection found no damage.
It's believed due to the trailer being empty the strike was less serious than it could have been.
Fire and rescue confirmed they would remain on scene until recovery was complete and that the railway would likely be closed again during recovery for safety reasons until recovery was complete.
