This is the spectacular moment an elephant mother and her young calf walked along a mountain road before roaring to call other members of their herd.

Footage shows the jumbos interacting on the side of a road within Khao Yai National Park in Prachinburi province, central Thailand.

Driver Pnhum Apinan said the mother called the other elephants as if she was their leader.

He said: ‘I witnessed the mother summon the other members as if she was a leader. The elephants then gathered near my car while greeting each other with their trunks.’
