Footage emerged of the moment Gujarat police arrested a gang in connection with a string of violent crimes, then carry out some violence of their own as they kick and threatened the ringleader with a pistol.

The police posed as customers at a roadside eatery to arrest criminal Kishor Luhar and his associates. He was wanted in connection with 14 offences, including robbery and rape.

The men were captured at an eatery in Amarpura village in Saraswati Taluka of Patan district on June 27.

In the video, several cops are seen trying to get some space to sit at the eatery, before suddenly surrounding their targets. The officers are then seen recovering a pistol from the accused and forcing him to the floor.

One of the cops can be seen kicking Luhar while he is on the ground. Another policeman is seen pushing a pistol into Luhar’s belly.

Police sources said these were "spur of the moment" actions as Luhar was resisting arrest and being abusive.
