There has been a spike in smuggling cases amid the pandemic in southern India's Andhra Pradesh on July 1. The incident took place in Pendurthi in Visakhapatnam.

Visuals feature the officials recovering a bulky consignment of marijuana from a container truck in broad daylight. Following this, they stack all the concealed packages wrapped with adhesive tape in a row to keep a check on the narcotic items.

During regular inspections, the Special Enforcement Bureau (SEB) officials in Pendurthi seized 2652 kg (5846 lbs) of marijuana worth Rs. 60 lakh (USD 80,343) from a moving container lorry. Following this, the cops apprehended smugglers, including the truck driver, from Uttar Pradesh and Visakhapatnam. Besides, they have to go through the Covid-19 test as they were remanded in custody.
