There has been a sharp spike in smuggling and illegal trading cases amid the pandemic in southern India's Telangana on July 2. The incident took place in Jangaon.

Visuals feature the officials recovering a bulky consignment of marijuana from a white car in broad daylight. Following this, they stack all the concealed packages wrapped with adhesive tape in a row to keep a check on the narcotic items. In the meantime, the cops apprehend and bring the smugglers to the police station for further interrogation.

The main accused, identified as Sudhakar, used to run a curry point in Hyderabad and eventually came into contact with Dinesh, involved in smuggling marijuana in the city. However, Sudhakar did not indulge in that business and started a car rental service in his hometown due to lockdown. Therefore, he planned to smuggle cannabis from Narsipatnam in Andhra Pradesh to Hyderabad. He further made a deal with Dinesh and Suresh, whom he met in his village. Then as a part of the settlement, they indulged in illegal trading and transported marijuana several times from the said location. Sudhakar then bought 126 kg (277 lbs) of narcotic substance worth Rs. 12.6 lakh (USD 16,855) on June 29 and stored them in his car, and reached Jangaon.

The officials further received information about this activity and the Task Force police, along with Jangaon Sub-Inspector (SI) Ravi Kumar and staff, swung into action and arrested the three accused after they found cannabis in their car during the vehicle inspection. Nevertheless, the miscreants confessed to their crime during the interrogation process while Task Force Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Pratap Kumar, Inspector G. Madhu, Jangaon Circle Inspector (CI) Balaji Varaprasad, SI Ravi Kumar, Task Force head constable Samalingam, constables Srinivas, Raju, Mir Mohammad, and others for apprehending the gang.
