Ex South African president's supporters threaten to make country ungovernable

Supporters of former South African president, Jacob Zuma, have threatened to make the country ungovernable if he is arrested on a charge of contempt of court.

Zuma supporters have since Tuesday continued to converge on his on in Nkandla in the province of Kwazulu-Natal. On Tuesday, 28 June, South Africa’s Constitutional Court sentenced Zuma to 15 months in prison for contempt of court. Zuma had walked out of and refused to testify at Zondo Commission of enquiry into state capture.

Zuma’s supporters are calling for the resignation of President Cyril Ramaphosa as head of the ANC, South Africa’s ruling party. They have also pledged to make the country ungovernable if Zuma is sent to prison.
