Greedy Silver Gull gobbles up bread then throws up

Silver Gulls (Chroicocephalus novaehollandiae) are Australia’s commonest gull, occurring over most of the continent. Silver Gulls inhabit coastal areas, wetlands, urban areas, and are particularly abundant on garbage tips. They are non-selective feeders, taking a range of worms, crustaceans and fish. Silver Gulls are also skilful scavengers, pestering people for food scraps and stealing food from unattended restaurant tables or picnics. This pair of Silver Gulls joined us for lunch on the Coodanup Reserve, near Mandurah in Western Australia. The larger male gulped down sandwich crusts until his crop was so full that he had to throw up.
