This is the terrifying moment residents crossed a bridge submerged in muddy floodwater in the Philippines.

Footage shows the locals huddling together on a motorcycle as they wade through the deluge in Negros Occidental province on July 6.

Resident Sony Quiatchon said: ‘It rained nonstop and the water just kept flowing from the mountain. We had no choice but to cross the bridge or we would be stranded.’
The Philippines and other countries in Southeast Asia such as Malaysia, Indonesia and Thailand are on their tropical monsoon rainy season, which lasts until October or November. Soaring temperatures reaching 35 degrees Celsius are often followed by powerful tropical storms with thunder, lightning, rain and flash floods.
