An adorable little bird arrives out of the blue on a street in Thailand and has made himself at home in our house.
This morning as we were having breakfast in the garden, we spotted a colourful little bird on our street. He was a cute little parrot, that had probably escaped from some house. We were very concerned about his safety as there are a few cats that wander our street everyday and night. He was looking for food on the street, and almost got hit by a motorcycle. He flew up onto some electric wires, before venturing down to a small tree. My girl friend Penny, tried to coax him down from the tree, by playing sounds of birds singing and also offering him some food. To my surprise it actually worked and she captured the bird. We took him into our house, and let him wander around as we did not have a birdcage. We wondered who owned him and sent out messages to the local community to see if anyone had lost a bird.
We had to be very careful about keeping doors and windows closed. We played the sounds of birds singing to try and calm him down and get him relaxed. This seemed to work as after 30 minutes he became very relaxed and started exploring all corners of or house.
As we are currently in Quarantine, in our house, we ordered our food online. We had a tricky few moments trying to get the food into the house and also keeping the door partially closed, luckily its a sliding door so easier to achieve this.
A local lady who heard about our new bird, thoughtfully delivered some bird food to us, she also owns a big green parrot who arrived with her on the motorcycle. Our little bird loved the food and became much more friendly and even would eat from our hands.
The bird became very inquisitive about everything that was going on in the house, and wanted to take part in all activities. As it got dark he became very sleepy, it was a long day for all of us. The bird initially stared sleeping on the fridge, then moved to some boxes that contained whiskey bottles, and finally moving to sleep ontop of our clock.
What will happen next? I dont know. However it is a very cute little bird, and we are enjoying its company so far.
