A cameraman at a Georgian TV channel, who was attacked by far-right groups ahead of a gay pride march in Tblisi, Georgia on 5 July, has died.

Lekso Lashkarava was found dead in his bed on Sunday July 11.

He was one of several journalists attacked by far-right demonstrators against the gay pride event, the the March of Dignity.

The thugs had come to the offices of Tbilisi Pride on Akhvlediani Street. There was then a confrontation near the church of Kashveti, where police and clerics tried to calm the situation, despite being outnumbered.

Reports say Mr Lashkarava was attacked while filming in the offices of the Shame movement, a Liberal political group.

Reports said he was admitted to hospital and had surgery but was later discharged to recover at home.
