Cape Town shanty town residents accuse Cape Town police of violently evicting them

Residents of the Phola Park informal settlement in Mfuleni township outside Cape Town have accused City of Cape Town law enforcement officers of using violent means to evict them. The residents started occupying open parcels of land as a result of unemployment caused by the Covid 19 economic downturn. Residents collected a shopping bag of shells of rubber bullets that were fired by the law enforcement officers. Many residents had wounds from the shots that were fired.
