A video has emerged from the US of a goose with an arrow through its neck.

The footage, which was captured on the Santa Ana River Trail in Anaheim, California earlier this month, shows the wild Egyptian goose moving around despite the large arrow through its neck.

According to local news reports, animal control officers had been trying to catch the bird after reported sightings in the area, but it kept evading capture.

The goose was finally caught on Wednesday (15 April) and taken for treatment at an animal hospital where it sadly died during surgery to remove the arrow.

The incident is being investigated as an animal cruelty case after officials said it was likely the goose was intentionally shot.
