Majestic cat explores sites of rural Canada, snuggly tucked into BACKPACK
Watch this majestic cat explore the sites and sounds of rural Canada - snuggly tucked into her owner's backpack.
Fig is an eight-month-old polydactyl pure bred Maine Coo n who loves roaming beaches, forests and mountains.
Owner Chelsea Robinson first took her to the beach three days after bringing her home to Vancouver Island - and immediately realised her pet had an adventurous streak.
Now Fig goes hiking on a leash or in the backpack and speed walks in the stroller with her mum.
Chelsea, 30, said: “Fig is very special, she’s my heart cat and she’s more child than cat honestly.
“She goes everywhere with us, and loves every second of our adventures.
“Because of Covid we’ve been staying close to home. But she’s been to multiple beaches, forests and to the alpine.
“Now that restrictions are easing we can’t wait to travel more around our island and province with her!
“We’re currently looking for some hotels to stay at around Vancouver Island and the mainland that would love to welcome an adorable adventure cat.”
Chelsea and Fig have had to overcome challenges as often establishments do not welcome cats.
“The challenge is the fact that the world is made more for travelling dogs than cats," she explained.
“Even now, looking into hotels and figuring out that pet friendly usually only means 'dog friendly'.
"I’m also learning that certain adventures like mountain gondola rides that are dog friendly, are a not for cats, which is a huge bummer.
“I feel so much joy. It’s wonderful watching the world through her eyes.
“I hope to bring awareness to adventuring cats, to normalize it so that it’s no longer 'strange' to see someone walking their cat on a leash or jogging down the street with their cat in a stroller."
