Residents of Darlington in northern England were amazed recently to see a tornado-shaped cloud forming above their heads.

Dean Ball spotted the funnel cloud descending towards the ground on July 9.

"Filmed it myself as I exited a supermarket. As I said, it was a rare sighting and almost never happens over here," said Ball.
