Amid the destruction of recent riots and looting in South Africa, a Durban clean-up crew found a moment of joy on Friday 16 July.

The cleaners, from Durban Solid Waste, began tidying up the debris on Wednesday 14 July, under the watchful eye of police and supported by the taxi organisation Santaco.

Video showed them singing and dancing during their work.

After a wave of unprecedented mass looting laid waste to the Durban city center, clean-up crews began moving in on Wednesday.

Under the watchful eye of police and supported by the taxi organization, Santaco, cleaners from the Durban Solid Waste begun the arduous task of cleaning up a city that was left looking like a scene from a post-apocalyptic movie.

The cleaning teams from DSW collected and bagged countless items that included plastic, paper, boxes and an assortment of rubbish left behind by the looters.
