An agitated trinket snake was gently calmed down and relocated by a rescuer in Pune, western India.

Footage from July 19 shows Saidas Kusal carefully approach the non-venomous snake that was coiling up and striking anyone who came near.

Kusal eventually managed to calm the reptile down and put it into a bag.

The rescuer said: "The snake was adorable and I did not want to stress it anymore. It responded to my touch and calmed down.”

The trinket snake was later released into a nearby forest.

A few men strolling near an empty ground in Pune in western India saw a snake on July 19.

Fearing it was a venomous viper they called rescuer Saidas Kusal, who went to rescue, and saw that it was just a non-venomous trinket snake.

But the four-feet long snake was highly agitated. It was repeatedly coiling itself into an attack position, and striking at anyone who tried to approach it.

Realising that the snake was feeling cornered, Saidas gently picked it up from behind and held it with his bare hands.

Though the snake tried to attack him initially, it perhaps realised that he did not pose any danger and relaxed. It was put in a bag and later released in a nearby forest.

Saidas said: “The snake was adorable and I did not want to stress it anymore. It responded to my touch and calmed down.”
