Tham Luang Nam Nang Non (Great Cave of the Sleeping Lady) National Park in Thailand's Chiangrai province was the focus of world attention three years ago when a local football team was trapped in the cave on June 28 then dramatically rescued by international divers in an operation concluded on July 10.
The area become a popular tourist attraction after the media left, with hundreds of locals selling everything from coffee to T-shirts. Three years later the cave area is closed due to the Covid pandemic. Nature has retaken the park and cornfields abound. The vendors and visitors have all gone and there is an air of silence.
The Sleeping Lady's image appears on a postbox at the temple in Mae Sai where the boys stayed after hospitalisation and their portrait is on prominent display there.
