Barrel jellyfish invasion off the coast of Cornwall, UK
Amazing footage has emerged of swarms of barrel jellyfish (Rhizostoma pulmo) off the coast of Cornwall, UK.
The footage, captured by wildlife enthusiast Ross Wheeler from a boat off the coast of Falmouth Harbour on Wednesday evening, shows large numbers of the jellyfish gliding through calm water.
“This video shows a section of a swarm which was like a carpet and approximately a mile long,” Ross later wrote online.
In 2014, several newspapers reported an invasion of barrel jellyfish “the size of dustbin lids” off the south coast of England.
