Derbyshire police divers and Derbyshire fire and rescue were back today (July 21) searching the river Trent near Swarkestone in Derbyshire after reports of a swimmer getting into difficulty were received on July 20 after 5 pm local time.

Crews were at the scene last night till dark and we're back searching before 8 am.

Derbyshire police have confirmed that the body of a 15 year old boy has been recovered after a 2 day search operation following reports that a swimmer had got into difficulties whilst in the river trent near to Swarkestone, Derbyshire yesterday 20/07/2021. Derbyshire police divers and Derbyshire fire and rescue were seen searching the river last night after reports came in just after 5pm. Search teams remained in the area last night until around 10pm when it became dark. A search operation was continued first thing the next day and by 11am police and firefighters had recovered the body of a 15 year old.

The boy has not yet been formally identified but the family of the missing boy have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers from Derbyshire police.
