A reveller who celebrated the lifting of restrictions by heading to Heaven nightclub in Charing Cross, London, has now tested positive for COVID-19.

Jack Jackson headed down to the London nightclub on July 19 as the venue held an event counting down to when COVID-19 related restrictions were lifted.

The clubber posted a video to TikTok of the countdown from inside the club and described it as the best night he's experienced.

"It was literally the best night I've ever had, it was so so refreshing to be partying with so many happy people. The energy was just so positive all night and I would not have changed it for the world," Jackson told Newsflare.

However, after the celebrations Jackson has tested positive for COVID-19 and has questioned the government's approach to reopening nightclubs.

"I don't regret going out because it's so good for our mental health. I really do think nightclubs should remain open," he said.

"I'm annoyed as the government really should have planned a safer opening to the nightclub industry.

"We should be having to prove a negative test or a double vaccination to even get in and not everyone did obviously because now I've got COVID and a lot of my friends are now developing symptoms."

Jackson added: "I'm still going to go out but I just wish it was safer."
