Locals in flood-hit regions of Bihar, eastern India, used cooking pots to form makeshift rafts.

Villagers in Muzaffarpur tied together large pots to make small boats so they could safely travel around the submerged region.

This footage was filmed on July 10.

Due to heavy rain many districts flooded up in North Bihar. While the administration made every effort to shift people to safer places, there was a shortage of rescue boats.

In Muzaffarpur villages visiting journalists saw people making novel arrangements to cross the Burhi Gandak river that had flooded.

Many had used tubes to stay afloat. In one incident, people were seen using a boat made of aluminum cooking pots.

They had tied up the pots together and had even kept a charpoy (traditional cot) on them for comfort.
