Desperate residents used wood to cross a river during typhoon In-fa in the Philippines.

Footage shows stranded locals with their makeshift boat as they dangerously waded through a river when the water level rose today (July 23) in La Union province.

Resident Lyrreshnnyl Nauda said: ‘The bridge was damaged due to the storm so people were trapped on the other side. They had to cross to get food but it’s the only route they could take.’

Typhoon In-fa, locally named Fabian, reached the far northern region of the country heading to Miyako Islands in Japan but continued to intensify the monsoon maintaining heavy downpours across Luzon island.
