This clip shows the serious damages caused by incessant rains, landslides, and floods in the Indian State of Maharashtra.

90,000 people have been evacuated due to extreme weather conditions.

138 people have died. 36 of them lost their lives in a landslide in the coastal Raigad district, 70 km away from the capital Mumbai. Many are still missing.

The districts of Raigad, Ratnagiri, Palghar, Thane, Sindhudurg, Kolhapur, Sangli, and Satara have been the most affected.

Excessive rains make it difficult for rescue workers to reach some towns and villages, even via helicopters.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red alert for six districts that have already been affected by the downpour, as well as recommended preventive measures.

Flooding and landslides are common during the monsoon season. However, experts believe global warming has enhanced weather conditions in the country.
